CAC congregants fight, throw out pastor over disbursement of church’s funds .

There was pandemonium at the Christ Apostolic Church, Abule-Ijesha in Yaba area of Lagos State, yesterday, as members of the church threw out their pastor, identified as Mr. Micheal Oni, over disagreements on disbursement of the church’s funds.

According to members of the church, the pastor who was recently transferred to their church from Ibadan, was demanding for a remuneration beyond his salary scale. In an interview with popular TV channel, TVC, a member of the Olusweyi Omotajo said,

“ He came with a letter of Level 7/ step 1 and he was demanding for level 9/step 9. We then told him that it won’t be possible, but to make peace reign we decided to pay him based on level 8, we paid for three months salaries but he insisted that we have to pay him based on level 9.

Another member, Sunday Adelu said, “He has been causing chaos in the church, fighting members, insulting members and raising funds and keeping the money in his purse without giving to the church authorities.” Narrating his own side of the ordeal, Pastor Oni claimed that the church members have refused to comply to his orders, stressing that they are yet to duly render the financial accounts of the church to him.

“He has been giving the church problem, causing chaos in the church and fighting members, insulting and raising bad covenant between members”Badejo Adelu, a member of the church told TVC.

Protests against police violence continue across U.S.

A Louisiana civil rights group is criticizing law enforcement officers over their treatment of protesters.

The American Civil Liberties Union of Louisiana said Monday that Baton Rouge police "used violent, militarized tactics on groups of people who have gathered peacefully in protest of Alton Sterling's killing." At times, police have used riot gear and military-style vehicles in demonstrations.
Sterling, a 37-year-old black man, was killed Tuesday by two white police officers. His death, captured on video by bystanders, has sparked days of protests.

Authorities have arrested about 200 demonstrators since Friday. Monday night's protests were largely peaceful.

Twitter Increases Gif Image Size Limit to 15MB.

Twitter is easing yet another limitation, as it’s upping the size of GIFs that you can post from 5MB to 15MB.

This change only applies to the web version of Twitter; on mobile the limit is still 5MB. Twitter’s support page reads, "Photos can be up to 5MB; animated GIFs can be up to 5MB on mobile, and up to 15MB on web.”

This is the latest in a series of welcome changes that Twitter is making. It recently excluded additional elements like usernames, images, and polls from its 140-character limit.

Meanwhile, in July, it started supporting videos of up to 140 seconds in length. Twitter has not indicated whether this will come to the mobile version of the site or not.

#TheVoiceNigeria Episode 14: More Contestants Exit The Show

The third live show of #TheVoiceNigeria had 12 of the contestants who were safe from probation joined by four other contestants saved by the viewers votes.
The talents who exited the show were Precious and Theodora (#Team2baba), Kofo and Chiche (#TeamWaje), Kofo and Tobore (#TeamTimi) and Benjamin and Uche Michael (#TeamPatoranking).
Furthermore, the talents saved from this week’s live show are David Operah from #Team2baba and Michael from #TeamWaje. The last two are Vicky from #TeamTimi and Nonso from #TeamPatoranking.

The performances of the night kicked off with #Team2baba as Brenda performed Beyoncé’s “If I Were A Boy”. Jennifer also sang Evanescence’s “Bring Me To Life” ,while Viveeyan gave a good rendition of “When Love Takes Over” by David Guetta and Kelly Rowland. David Operah was saved at the end of the performances by 2baba.

#TeamWaje saved Michael after A’rese had sang Imogen Heap’s “Hide & Seek”. This was followed by Patrick who sang “Katapot” by Reedako Banks and Promise who performed Miguel’s “Adorn”.
Timi chose to save Vicky after performances from his Team with Armstrong singing James Bay’s “Let It Go”, Cornel taking on Bryan Adams ballad “Have You Ever Really Loved A Woman” and Dewe singing Bez’s “There’s A Fire”.

Lamar Odom Khloe Pulls Rug ... And House Out From Under Him

Lamar Odom is a vagabond without a home, after Khloe kicked him out of the Calabasas rental. As we reported, Khloe rented the $25k a month home for Lamar just blocks from hers.

N1.2bn Fraud: EFCC Set To Seize Fayose’s N1.35bn Properties.

According to reports, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has made plans to seize some properties linked to Governor Ayodele Fayose of Ekiti State.
The properties believed to be on the radar of the EFCC are four duplexes on Victoria Island in Lagos State and another located at 44 Osun Crescent, Maitama, Abuja.
According to an EFCC source, who said that the houses were allegedly purchased with illegitimate funds, stating that the anti-graft body could invoke the Assets Forfeiture clause to seize the properties in line with sections 28 and 34 of the EFCC (Establishment Act) 2004 and Section 13 (1) of the Federal High Court Act, 2004.
Fayose is under investigation by the EFCC for allegedly receiving N1.219 billion from the Office of the National Security Adviser through a former Minister of State for Defence, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro.

Locusts came to fame as agents of destruction during the eighth plague of Egypt in the Bible, but some researchers envision a new occupation for the humble insects: cyborg bomb detectors.

Yes, you read that correctly. The Office of Naval Research has given Washington University in St. Louis associate biomedical engineering professor Baranidharan Raman and his team a $750,000, three-year grant to continue his research into turning ordinary locusts into military tools.

The idea is simple, even if the execution is not. Like most insects, locusts are equipped with an exponentially more powerful and sensitive olfactory system than anything humans can artificially replicate — so why not use this preexisting system to hunt for bombs, rather than attempting to create what will inevitably be a pale imitation?

Following his death a month to what would have been his 5oth birthday, a candle light procession was held in his honour on July 4. Three days after the procession, friends and family once again gathered for a service of songs and wake keeping in honour of the late OJB Jezreel.

The wake keeping took place at the National stadium, Surulere, Lagos. Praise and worship was led by veteran and award-winning gospel musician, Sammie Okposo, while other celebrities like Kenny St Best, Grace Amah, Emma Ugolee, Ruggedman and others were also present. He will be buried at the Ikoyi cemetery on today,
July 8.
